Description
The Solid Edge 2D Nesting product is a Solid Edge portfolio application for the creation of 2D Nesting for manufacturing. For more information about our software and services, visit our home page at www.solidedge.com.
Operating system requirements and information
Solid Edge 2D Nesting 2021 has been certified to run on the following when exchanging files with Solid Edge 2021:
· Windows 10 Enterprise or Professional (64-bit only) version 1709 or later
· Internet Explorer 11
Internet Explorer is not required to be the default browser.
· Microsoft Office Professional 2016, or Microsoft Office 365 Business.
Note
· Windows Home and Windows RT are not supported.
· We recommend that you not run Solid Edge 2D Nesting on Server operating systems.
· Solid Edge stops certifying new releases against an operating system shortly after Microsoft drops mainstream support for it. Microsoft dropped mainstream support for Windows 7 in January 2015. Microsoft dropped mainstream support for Windows 8.1 in January 2018. Due to limited support from Microsoft and graphics card vendors for older operating systems, installation of Solid Edge on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 is not recommended. Solid Edge will install and run on these operating systems, but issues determined to be caused by an incompatibility between Solid Edge and an end of life operating system may not be fixed. Due to the potential for critical issues on these older operating systems, Solid Edge 2020 was the last Solid Edge release that installs on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

To download Solid Edge 2D Nesting, your PC must connect to the internet the first time the software starts, and you must have 16 GB of free space during installation.
Reboot your system after installing. If you still have a problem, contact the Global Customer Support & Success team.

Security requirements
Siemens' products and solutions undergo continuous development to make them more secure. Siemens strongly recommends that product updates are applied as soon as they are available and that the latest product versions are used. Use of product versions that are no longer supported, and failure to apply the latest updates may increase customer's exposure to cyber threats.
If you receive a System Error message that states "The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer" when attempting to launch Solid Edge, the problem is generally that the operating system is not up-to-date on current required and optional Windows updates.
To ensure there are no issues, you should first check that you have all current Windows updates installed using Windows Update including both the required and optional updates. After running all of the required updates, please reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. Specifically, you should ensure you have downloaded and installed the following update:
· KB2999226 (Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows).
Be sure to reboot your system after installing all updates. If you still have a problem, contact the Global Customer Support & Success (GCS&S) team.

We release Maintenance Packs for CRITICAL items only. Solid Edge 2D Nesting 2021 maintenance packs will be released through December 31, 2021.

Installing Solid Edge
applications
All of the applications in the Solid Edge portfolio are available as electronic download at https://download.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com/. A README for download details is also posted.
Solid Edge uses Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6. Solid Edge setup.exe automatically installs the Microsoft .NET 4.6 Framework, if it does not exist on the machine. The msiexec utility, commonly used for silent installation, will not install or update the .NET Framework. This will need to be done manually. Your machine needs to be connected to the internet to install .NET Framework.

NOTE: To access the download and license site, you must have a WebKey account username and password. If you do not have a WebKey account, complete instructions on creating the account can be found at: https://plmapps.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com/webkey/.
Solid Edge 2019 and beyond uses electronic download as our standard delivery mechanism.

Licensing
The License Utility located within the Solid Edge 2D Nesting Windows start menu contains the license options available for the product. The Help button opens the sesetup.pdf file for detailed instructions on installing and licensing. This document is also available from the GTAC Documentation site: https://support.industrysolftware.automation.siemens.com/docs/se/. Your WebKey login and password are required to log into this site.

FlexNet Publisher 2016 (11.14.0) is supported only on the 64-bit versions of the following operating systems:
· Windows 10
· Windows 8
· Windows 7 Ultimate
· Windows Vista Ultimate
· Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2012 R2
Uninstalling applications
From Control Panel, click Uninstall a Program. Select the application you want to uninstall and click Uninstall to begin the uninstall process.
Once you remove an application, be sure to reboot your system to ensure optimal operation from subsequent installations.
